Starless Skin

Every Starling can manipulate fire with any of the dozens of jewel-like stars set in their skin. Cayra only has one, which unknown to her, is primed to explode. 

All she wants is to make a glass Vessel, marry her best friend, and live happily-ever-after. But when her broken heart causes a dragon to descend on her hometown, Cayra risks losing it all. After being warned not to return, she is rescued by Merson, a human. They flee to The Glass City of Kairos where her single star turns the heads of nobles and criminals alike. Hunted by dragons, a conspiracy unfolds with Cayra and Merson at the center of it. Cayra must face her guilt, her fear, and a dragon with only a suspicious human boy, an explosive star, and a legend so old it might even be real.
