I am looking for creators to bring the Locklair to life on the pages of my soon to be published novel, Starless Skin.
How to Audition
WHO
Professional and Amateur
Visual Artists:
- digital, traditional, animatic, mixed media, etc (If you make things: audition).
Voice and Musical Artists: Voice actors, composers, singer, piano player, guitarist, etc (if you make things sound good: audition).
Writers:
- Poets, writers, etc (if you write things well: audition).
Creators:
- Fasion content creators, Makeup content creators, booktok/booktube/bookstagram, Medieval history enthusiasts, owns swords, etc (show me what you've got!!!)
WHAT
20+ artists/writers/creators will be selected to create work for the soon to be published novel, Starless Skin.
- Publication
- Paid Contract
Types of projects can include:
- Full or half page drawings
-4-14 line poems
-musical composition
-Epigraphic inserts
-Starling fashion content
-voice actors
-Small designs
- and more!
*Contracts will vary based on experience and complexity of project.
WHEN
Submissions are: OPEN
Submissions will be due by Sunday 11/1/2025
WHERE
Submit your auditions on Instagram or TikTok by Sunday 11/1/2025
HOW
Post to Instagram or TikTok with the following submission:
- A good example of a past original work (poem/drawing/painting/music/designs/etc)
- A video of you showing the camera your response (via your medium) to the following prompt:
What does a Starling look/feel like to you, based on this passage:
Starlings were always described to him as looking similar to humans. Perhaps in build and the lack of wings . . . but not in the way their bodies glowed. Merson tried to think of a better word for it— their incandescence was like if some had flattened burning coals and laid them under the purest glass. The man’s skin changed color in front of him, shifting from yellows to oranges to reds to glimmers of green. But one description reigned true, their stars. Humans had dark pigments on the skin called freckles and Starlings had jewel-like bumps on their skin. They were about the size of a pimple, except these could be used to barbecue a chicken. Or a human.
